A beginner core exercise.
Basic stabilization exercises will improve posture and core stability. Using the dowel across the lower back encourages slow and controlled movements. This added control would further engage the core musculature creating a stabilized, properly aligned body.
Kneel with both hands and knees on the floor. Keep the abdominal muscles pulled inward to aid with balance. Do not arch the lower back. Keep the hips square (facing the floor).
Level 1 - Extend one leg back and one arm forward (approx. parallel with the body). Perform on other side.
Level 2 - Place a dowel across the lower back. Perform as in level 1.
